About
I am a 500 RYT Yoga teacher, a trained Mindfulness practitioner and co-founder of Yo-Chi, an accredited Seasonal Yoga programme for children, which is now a national programme in schools. I am passionate about supporting other people with their health and wellbeing. I run many Yoga groups for children and adults, and more recently have started supporting individuals with an holistic form of counselling and spiritual guidance.
I have practiced yoga since childhood and have always had a fascination with the mind-body connection. As a young adult, I often found myself looking for ways I could explore my own personal and spiritual development, the desire for which was in part a search for relief from my intense struggles with anxiety. I found that once I started practising yoga and mindfulness on a regular basis, I began to manage my anxiety much more effectively. Yoga and mindfulness have really become my tools for self-healing, which I continue to use for myself and share with others.
The practice of yoga and meditation has continued to evolve for me. As well as being an ongoing support for my mental health, I experience it as a path that lights my way, a journey of discovery, and a tool for my own spiritual and personal growth.
Yoga is now a huge part of my life. I am privileged to teach adults and children of all ages and abilities, and I am delighted to now be running an ever-growing online membership of like-minded souls who are seeing for themselves the emotional, physical and spiritual benefits of a regular yoga practice!
Inspiration for Casting Light Yoga and Meditation
The classes I teach are inspired by many different forms and styles of yoga including Hatha, Vinyasa and Kriya Yoga. My classes are influenced by the seasons, the cycles of the moon, sometimes a little astrology and also by the teachers I have been lucky enough to learn from. Particularly Sue Woodd who is a master trainer in Seasonal Yoga and Tai Chi, with whom I now run the Yo-Chi programme for children. I really enjoy bringing a simplicity to the classes I teach and find joy in working with the ‘Light’ which I believe can be a really positive way of adding a subtle deeper layer of healing to our practice.
What to expect from my classes…
I usually start with a period of relaxation or a mindful exercise, at this point I will discuss a little the focus of the class, and then we will move into a gentle warm up, exploring various seated postures which will be focused on the meridians that connect with the vital organs of the seasons, we then move into a gentle flow and always end with short period of meditation.
When you join my membership you will see you have access to many different master classes including classes for each season, gentle and stronger classes, working with the chakras and longer classes on meditation.
I try to keep my practice simple and accessible, and my hope is that I provide a space for you to explore yoga in a way that doesn’t seem out of reach or too challenging!
